New Sponsor

So I've got a new boardsponsor..Sweet as of course! The brand is called Stepchild snowboards, and I have to say the prints look sweet! The pop and flex seem to be cool as well, so I'm pretty sure these boards are going to be fun to ride!

You'll see soon enough, cause I'm off to Breckenridge tomorrow! Keep checking this blog , Cause there will be some sweet snowboard pictures soon!
I'm off packing, I hope they'll let me enter the country, since I got a nice scratched face. Never cash money around 3 o'clock at night in Amsterdam, especially when there's some dodgy looking guys around you, I should have known better..

Anyway I'm off, good winter to all!

Anddd Action!

Okidoki. Now it’s time for some action shots! I’m stuck with so many skate pictures. I can’t remember the story’s really. Well I’ll try to remember.

Let’s start with the first session I’ve been shooting. This was in Zaandam, a place near Amsterdam. There’s this skatepark underneath a bridge. It’s all made out of concrete. There’s loads of objects that are cool, and original. There’s a couple of quarter pipes that go in to a wallride(check pic).

There’s a bowl and some other cool stuff. I was there with my friends Tim and Dobber. These guys know how to skate that stuff, so it was fun to have them around.

Then there were some sessions at Java Island. Java island is a artificial island in the steamy waters of Amsterdam city. It’s a cool spot to skate. There’s many little objects made out of concrete, and that’s about it.. It doesn’t mean the spot sucks though, it’s good fun playing around..

Most of my friends and me myself and I grew up in a place called Huizen. We got to know each other trough snow and skateboarding. Most people in our town didn’t really like skaters, and on our dryslope(the place where we used to snowboard) the skiers thought the same thing. They thought it was a waste of time, and that serious people shouldn’t do that stuff.

Most people in our town(and in this world) think that you should live your life on a certain way. Which is grow up, go to school, find a job and safe money in case you make it until you’re 80 years old. The faster this process goes, the better. Apparently people in this world frown upon people that take a different path, like me and some of my friends do.

I think that if you’re studying what you love to do, then it can’t be wrong, so no offence! But don’t just do stuff ,because the world around you wants to make you do it. I feel like I want to see nice places and progress in snowboarding. To many people this sounds stupid, but luckily there’s people who respect that. It’s nice that I have friends who share the same passion, like my friends Dolf, David and Luc. These guys were riding pretty well on the worldcup in Rotterdam(and are always snowboarding well),check out these shots!

Dolf is almost done with his study and Luc just kind of quitted his snowboard career, and has started studying by now. David,Dolf,Richard and some other guys are still travelling the world(including me), until they/we have had enough of living out of a board bag.

For us our studying days are yet to come, some people would call it waste of time. For those people; When you made it till you’re 80, sitting behind some plants(or some other depressing moment in your life).. Well maybe you wished you did something similar with your sport or passion. And for those people living their dreams.. Big up! Especially when you're able to combine that stuff with some study, you're a bunch of lucky bastards!

Some lifestyle shots

So when you’re taking pictures you find all kinds of things to shoot obviously. I have to say that taking a picture of a cool moment is just as fun as taking action shots. The last couple of weeks I’ve been having a good time with my friends from Holland.

There’s been many weekends that I’ve been hangin’ out in Amsterdam. My friends Tim, Dobber and David are living there. It’s always good fun since there’s loads of things to do in Amsterdam.

Dobber arranged a beer night some weeks ago. We had to bring different types of beer, but that didn’t really work out, since everybody brought old leftovers, so we had to buy new beer. This night resulted in a cool picture on a burned out boat in front of D’s door, headaches for all of us, and a angry barber the next morning. This barber is called Lodi, he lives underneath Dobber, and has to struggle with all the noises Dobber&Co produce on nights like the one just mentioned. The guy is in a constant nervous breakdown that’s for sure.

As you probably have noticed, me and my friends like board sports a whole bunch. It’s also nice for me to practise with taking pictures. So I’ve been taking a lot of pictures lately. Like I said before, to me, taking a picture of a cool moment is just as fun as taking a action shot. All the sessions I’ve had also resulted in a couple of lifestyle shots.

There’s been a session on Java island in Amsterdam. I was taking some pictures with my friends Rory and Tim. Here’s some lifestyle shots that I took.

That same weekend there was a World cup Big air in Rotterdam. A couple of my friends entered, and I went taking pictures of them. I’ll put the action shots in the next update. Here's a preview picture of the hottest filmer boy around, Mister TT!(Tony-Tacky)

Then last weekend I went to Antwerp(Belgium) for the premier party of a Dutch/Belgian snowboard film (Private). I hooked up with my buddy, Maarten, who arranged us a super sweet(free) room in a Hilton Hotel.
For pictures of the party check out: www.tacky.nl, see my link list.

Well that’s pretty much the best lifestyle shot’s I’ve got. Except this one picture I took.

I was driving around in Amsterdam on a random Saturday. Well it wasn't really driving, more like a traffic jam trough the city. This bad boy rocked up and made our day. I need money to buy one of those so please send me some.. I also need a adres and a place were I can buy one, cheers!

The past few years

So I was thinking about what to put on first. It's supposed to be a blog with pictures that I took.. But this first story with pictures is dedicated to all the nice people who took pictures of me on my board, and all the cool people I've met during my snowboard seasons!

Let's flip trough my seasons a bit. Well I started snowboarding on a dryslope in Holland back in '99. My mate Dobber took me for a practice course and we both got hooked.

This was a fun period to ride, cause we had a great atmosphere going at the dryslope. We didn't had many hours to ride because of time tables that were always in the advantage of the skiers somehow. But that made the riding even better because we were more stoked to go riding.

Let's skip some things. In the winter of (euh when was this) well after I graduated from College I went doing seasons in the french alpes..
On my first season I went to the 3 valleys(Val Thorens,FR) This was great fun, I was mainly riding off piste which was obvious cause there was a lot of fresh snow during the whole season.

On my second and third season(Including 2 summer seasons) I went to Les deux alpes(FR). Deux alpes is famous for it's great park and infamous for it's freeriding, so I became a park rat.
I even went back in the summers to shape the snowpark and to ride it ofcourse. I got injured pretty bad on my last winter season but things are better now..

My plans for the future are always changing since I don't really know where I'm going with snowboarding. Fact is that I still enjoy it more then anything in the world. That's why my next season is a fact. I'll be heading for the USA this time, Breckenridge, Colorado.

So what can you expect on this blog? Well mainly pictures that I took off my friends and pictures that my friends took of me.. I'll put a selection of pictures that people took of me the past couple of seasons along with this message. The next update will be a selection of pictures that I took from my friends skating, stay tuned.

Oh almost forgot to tell. Me and my mates started a new snowboard crew.. On the crew page that's going to be online soon, you'll find plenty of sick footage from the crew shreddin' the states.. ''Samurai pizza shreds'' is our name and chopping pizza slices with samurai moves while shreddin' is our game..tjoptjop!

Thanks to Jérome Tanon(www.tripriders.com) Rut-gr.com and Ross Pottinger for these pictures! By the way check the movie some friends and me recorded this winter in Tignes backcountry: ''http://www.zapiks.fr/Get-Out.html''
